Roll on Easter Bank Holiday
Has it really been over two months since we waved goodbye to 2012 and ushered in a rather chilly 2013? Looking to the end of this month, Easter is set to arrive a little earlier than usual this year, to be exact: Friday 29th March to Monday 1st April.
For many business owners, Bank Holiday weekends are a luxury few can afford. At best, they’re an opportunity to get away from the day-to-day routine of the office itself. But incommunicado entirely? Business owners are rarely prepared to take this kind of risk.
“Together with Christmas and summer holiday season, the weeks leading up to Easter are a key period when people approach us looking for holiday cover”, explains Lisa Gough, Sales Manager at Moneypenny. “On average, they account for over 20% of total monthly enquiries in the lead up to any significant Bank Holiday”.
Lisa continues: “Taking a break is important. Our service means people can enjoy time away from their office, confident that they’re still capturing new opportunities. What’s more, there’s nothing worse than calling a business as a client and being greeted by patchy service. Telephone answering support helps you maintain a professional edge at all times”.
Moneypenny client Richard Benwell, owner of RICS-accredited chartered surveyor practice RH Benwell and Associates, explains why he decided to approach a telephone answering provider about support for his calls while he was away on holiday: “My main concern was having a person, rather than an answering machine, to handle my calls so that I could be made aware of any urgent messages”.
“While I was away, Janine my Moneypenny PA looked after calls and forwarded any important messages via SMS. When I returned, diverting my phone to Janine rather than to my mobile allowed me to catch up with work that required me to be out of the office. I was so impressed with the service I decided to continue with Moneypenny full-time.”
Lisa concludes: “As well as looking after your calls, your Moneypenny PA can also receive your faxes. You can stay in touch with her to find out what calls you’ve received and instruct her to respond accordingly. Or you may want no contact at all while you’re away – it’s no problem. Your PA is highly trained and perfectly capable of representing your business in your absence. Briefed by you on your company, your Moneypenny PA will work exactly as if she is part of your business: peace of mind for any holiday period.
Bank Holiday trivia:
British bank holidays are public holidays and have been recognised since 1871.
The 1871 Act
The 1871 Act designated four holidays in England, Wales and Ireland (then wholly part of the UK), and five in Scotland.
Why are they called Bank holidays?
As the name suggests, Bank Holiday comes from the time when banks were shut and so no trading could take place.
