In April, Twitter rolled out its new profile look to its 241 million monthly active users. Not ones to miss out, we hastily upgraded @Moneypenny and @Penelope. If you haven’t done it already, take a look at your own account. When you log in to your Twitter profile you’ll see a message letting you know about the new look; this gives you the option of previewing what it will look like.  All you need to do is change a few images:

These have been enlarged so you’ll need to update yours to a 400px x 400px image. However, remember that the thumbnail images that appear next to your tweets are still relatively small so consider that before you switch.

Again, Twitter has supersized this too. You’ll need to upload a picture that is 1500px wide x 500px high.

Yesterday, Twitter rolled out its new profile look to its 241 million monthly active users. Not one to miss out, we’ve just upgraded the @Moneypenny and @Penelope Twitter accounts. When you log in to your Twitter profile you’ll see a message letting you know about the new look; this gives you the option of previewing what it will look like.  All you need to do is change a few images:

  • Profile images have been enlarged so you’ll need to update yours to a 400px x 400px image. However, remember that the thumbnail images that appear next to your tweets are still relatively small so think about that before making your change.
  • Your profile header image has also been made bigger so you’ll need to upload a picture that is 1500px wide x 500px high.

You’ll notice that the new Twitter look is very similar to Facebook’s layout with the header image filling the top half of the screen and an overlapping profile image.  Though, that’s not the only similarity to Facebook. You can now ‘pin’ tweets to the top of your profile, which is really useful if you’ve got a special offer running or you want users to find out more about your business rather than just see the last interaction Tweets you’ve sent.

Here are a few of the other features that are worth a mention:

Highlighted Tweets – The more popular your Tweet, the bigger it will appear on your newsfeed (hopefully this will help to increase engagement and make your best tweets easier to find).

Filtered Tweets – This is a feature that you can use on other users’ profiles. It means that you can choose how to view profiles from the following options: Tweets, Tweets with photos/videos, or Tweets and replies.

3 column set up – ‘Who to Follow’ and ‘Trends’ have moved to the right, leaving more space for Tweets themselves in the centre of the page.

Follower & Following lists – These lists look so much better than previously; they now have a Pinterest-like look, making them easier to scroll through.

Currently, these changes only affect user profiles. The news feed remains unchanged but we don’t think it will be long until there is another upgrade.  So if social media is important to you and you’re keen to stay ahead of the game, update your profile today.
