Podcasts have never been so popular.

Here’s something you might not know; the word ‘podcast’ (a portmanteau of iPod and broadcast) was invented in 2004 by Ben Hammersley, a journalist attempting to pad out an article for The Guardian.

Little did he know, this hastily invented filler would make it into the lexicon. Strangely enough, Apple didn’t even have a platform at the time to support the medium.

Nowadays there are millions of podcasts available for download, often for free, across multiple platforms like Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Stitcher, GooglePlay, SoundCloud, TuneIn and even YouTube.
