With events season fast approaching, now’s the time to prepare so you can get the most out of your time. With this in mind, we wanted to share some tips and tricks on how to do just that. So, settle down, get that pen and paper at the ready, and prepare to make notes.
If you know you’ll be attending an event, then it’s worth checking to see if they offer early bird tickets. Not only are these often cheaper, but you’ll avoid the disappointment of missing out on attending if the event is a sellout.
The events calendar is released so far in advance that there’s more than enough time to organise your travel plans before you attend. Figure out travel times and weigh up if staying in a hotel near to the event works out better, so there’s less stress on the day about getting there on time if you’re traveling far. Booking your train tickets and hotels in advance often works out cheaper, so make sure you lock in those bargain prices ahead of time.
These are an ABSOLUTE must. You’ll certainly be getting your steps in while at an event and the last thing you need is to let uncomfortable shoes stop you from enjoying the day.
Most events will offer lots of fantastic talks and seminars from industry experts throughout the day. The programme should tell you when and where these are, so make sure you factor these into your day plan so you don’t miss out.
Events provide the perfect place for catching up with friends and colleagues and meeting new connections. Usually, there’s a scheduled networking event after the main talks and seminars, so make sure to research if you need to secure tickets for any evening events in advance.
At events, there are always plenty of freebies to go around. Each stand usually has a little something for you to walk away with – some, you get given and others you have to complete a fun task to win! Although it can be tempting to take everything on offer, try to travel lightly and only keep what you absolutely need – there’s nothing worse than carrying around a heavy tote bag all day, plus it’s always good to avoid unnecessary waste where we can.
There you have it! Our top tips to help you make the most out of any event you plan on attending this season. We’ve got lots coming up on our agenda, so hopefully we’ll see you out on the road – make sure to come over and say hello if you do!
