Moneypenny Clocks up the KM for Dementia UK

Moneypenny is joining forces with Pygott & Crone, Relocation Agent Network, and estate agents across the country to complete A Thought For Dementia –  a challenge to run or walk 100 kilometres in the 37 days between Boxing Day 2021 and the end of January 2022.

Several members of the Moneypenny team are off to a great start to the challenge already, clocking up 220km in the first two weeks of the challenge.

Following on from the successful challenge at the beginning of 2021, which raised over £70,000 for British Heart Foundation, this year’s chosen charity is Dementia UK which provides specialist dementia support for families – through their Admiral Nurse service.

When things get challenging for people with dementia and their families, Admiral Nurses work alongside them, giving the compassionate one-to-one support, guidance and practical solutions people need.

Calum Jones, a Moneypenny PA who is taking part for the first time this year, originally got involved to get fit after Christmas:

“I’ll be honest I first saw it as an opportunity to get out running, trying to push myself really in terms of cardio. Though before I started I found out one of my close mates’ grandad actually passed away after suffering with dementia for years, so in a way I’m now also doing it to help raise awareness on behalf of my friend.”

Returning to the challenge this year and raring to go is Head of Property Sector, Sharon Boyle:

“I really enjoyed the challenge last year in aid of British Heart Foundation, so it was a no brainer to return this year. We all know someone who has either suffered from, or supported a loved one through living with dementia. I’m looking forward to smashing the target again this year.”

This year’s chosen charity is a cause particularly close to our Head of Estate Agent Sector, Joanne Tattum’s heart:

“Having seen first hand the amazing work done by Dementia UK and the Admiral Nurses, I was thrilled that the proceeds from this years challenge will be going to support them, and can’t wait to clock up as many km as possible!”

Calum, Sharon and Joanne are joined by Samantha Jones, Sophie Williams, and a number of other team members from across the business. Together they hope to smash their totals from last year of 707.8 km covered and £2025 raised overall.

“Dementia is such a cruel disease and has affected many of us personally via a family member” Pygott & Crone CEO Kevin Scrupps.

“We are so lucky in our industry, as always Estate Agents and industry suppliers answered the request for support. We are so privileged that they are always so willing to get involved.”
